What is L.P. thinking?

and now the gentle turn to questioning my integrity.

Red ,

I think I answered your question. I should not have to in this thread under this context. its a shame the question of my integrity should come up at all in order for you to defend a thief. I've made quite a few posts here where I've tried to keep the conversation on subject though there were attempts to pull it off on tangents. Along the way I have given you your dues for defending the guy. Your thanks is to now try to question my integrity.

Danny thanks for the vote of confidence.

The fact is that theft is rampant at UPS. The reason it so is because the cards are stacked against ups. Someone getting caught red handed is not enough to get them fired. Instead UPS has to have overwhelming proof that the guy had dishonest intent.

The police often refuse to get involved in the prosecution of theft unless it is a felony theft and the evidence is solid. DA's tend to plea bargain anything this small or worse yet nol pros it to save time piddling around with a low grade felony.

So reality is that 1 out of about 20 theft cases of this type ever make it to a courtroom. The ones that do usually do so because some twenty or thirty year upser is willing to stand up and testify against the thief because he understands what the thieves do to our reputation.

Red your questions about me have nothing to do with your thief. I didn't sell him the phone and I didn't help him steal it. This debate should have been left in that context.

Tie im over nighting you a box of kleenex and nominating you for a grammy for your post.

After reading it i went down the street and hugged the neighbors dog, it was touching. I feel the love.

Chapter 9? And we still haven't "Tied" this one up yet? Sheesh guys, let's call it a draw. Shake hands, hugs and kisses and let's wait for the outcome of the trial, or did I miss that, in all the hullabaloo???

you missed it. found him innocent, but tie decided they somehow messed up the trial, he was really guilty, and they executed him, his mother and their two dogs. burned the house down for good measure.:wink2:

I have personally been involved in removing at least 70 thieves from this company. In that time I have devoted a lot of my personal time as the electronics guy on the weekends setting up little stings for these rodents.
Tie, I would be the first to say that I approve of theives being escorted off the property. I believe everyone else would agree. We work hard (mgt and hourly) for our pay and I personally do not want to work with someone that thinks they have the right to steal out of my or my customers or my company's pockets. You will get no argument from me on that account.

interesting concept. reminds me of when the car i was driving no longer was dependable to get me to the preload on time. so i traded "up" to a pinto. they gave me $250 bucks for my car. coulda got more for it if i had the time to wait, but at the time, keeping my job was more important.

BTW, the trade in was a 65 mustang convertible.

i guess that would make me guilty of what?

the issue is that you pronounced guilt, and then everything written you claim points to that end.

i say, under what little we know, based on others with more experience than i, after hearing both biased and unbiased evidence, made a ruling. i am cool with that. you are not. even after his acquittal in court, in your opinion, he will still be guilty.

shame.

I guess I should come clean. I, too, have bought something from a co-worker. I did not think to ask if the item was stolen. OOOOOPPPPSSS. Guess I will be fried in hell, too.

Danny ,

The great thing about panels and courtrooms is you don't have to be innocent to win your case.

The great thing about message boards is someone can pronounce you guilty when you are not.
Dang Tie, with all that experience you should get your own TV show.....CSI: UPS

Lets not forget how rich one can become with a civil suit!

I hate to agree but you're right, Red. I'm looking at having to sue the idiot doc that friend'ed up my arm in Denver. I DON'T want a stack of cash but insurance companies only seem to spell accountability M-O-N-E-Y.

And if memory serves, the standard of proof is substantially lower in a civil suit than it is in a criminal case. I think O.J. found that out the hard way. How much were the families awarded in that suit? -Rocky

me thinks that that standard was met when they falsely arrested and handcuffed him in front of his co-workers, and was falsely incarcerated.

This conversation is just plain getting bizzarre now. You guy are now in denial of the fact the guy was in possession of a stolen blackberry phone.

Danny I'm very dissapointed in your support of the thief. I expected as much from Red since he has no sense.

A final point and then I'm done with your support of blatant theivery, we actually lost the business of a phone supplier approximately 7 or 8 years ago. At the time the companys primary reason was the theft. Judging by your responses its clear you could really care less. Red let us know what the theif gets when he goes to court.

actually my friend, the contrary is true.

i didnt really think about it much, but a lurker brought my attention to the fact that i have not challenged you on the premise that you and you alone are the one that actually cares about theft at ups.

any one else that would take a different view than yours actually supports thieves and theft. you have stated as much.

i know better, and have the track record to prove it. and it bothers me greatly when customers leave because of issues involving theft at ups. i lost one years ago because of one of our drivers not being honest in his dealings with them.

so while i think that you could very well be wrong, you could also be right. what we need to do is let the legal system take its route and let the chips fall where they may. until then, to felony theft, he is innocent. buying stolen goods, there is no argument. knowing it was stolen is where the issue lies. and the 100 dollars allegedly paid is about the worth of a used phone of that type when you actually look at the options available.

You guy are now in denial of the fact the guy was in possession of a stolen blackberry phone.
tie, what was it that he was arrested for? not once have we said he was not in possession, he paid for it. as for the rest of what will come from you, i refer you to the panel hearing and a group of your contemporaries and their findings.

Danny I'm very dissapointed in your support of the thief.

while you see it that way, i am more in the support mode of lp doing the proper background research before they go off. i have personally seen what shoddy intel gathering does to a person. and from what has been posted here......

again, just because i disagree with you does not my support of a thief make.

as for disappointment, we will get a chance to speak to that issue over a beer or two?

best
