What Song Reminds You Of Our Job At UPS?

Pkgrunner

Till I Collapse

Was there at OLY Hub at the time....
got in the building before the riots spread from Florence and Normandy,
watched it unfold on TV.

April 27, next morning, UPS sent us out since UPS is UPS and it seemed the rioters hadcalmed down.
they were just resting for the next wave...

Watched LA burn from my route in the Hollywood Hills.. finished my day at my last pickup stop....
They informed me that UPS called and told them to tell me to drive back to the HUB ASAP and DO NOT take Olympic blvd back to the building...
This was pre-cellphone and pre DIAD. I was in a P400 at the time... made my way to the fwy which was abandoned and wound up being the last driver in that day.

Employee parking was across the street from the hub near a burning apartment building and 100s of looters carrying everything one could imagine....
I asked the security guards we had to escort me to my personal vehicle... They replied with a cowardly Fbomb NO!
Luckily the neighborhood still held respect for UPS at the time because my lone car (1992 Toyota 4runner) remained untouched, and no one even approached me as I walked to the parking lot...alone.

Might have to sit through a short ad on this YouTube link. It's worth it. Hope the link works. I don't think it can be topped for a UPS song.
If it doesn't work, look it up : Dan Reeder - Work Song. You won't regret it.

I love talking with the long timers at my building and hearing stories about what all you went through and how the company didn't give a friend and sent you out. This story is wild brother. Respect!

Package Shepherd
My dreams are all dead and buried
Sometimes I wish the sun would just explode
When God comes and calls me to His Kingdom
I’ll take all you sonsabitches when I go
Let it blow

Do not touch the trim.
