The only real con I can think of with the Union is that they protect the lazy, lousy workers. The guys who always look to do the bare minimum, are a poor representation of the company (and the Union as well), have no appreciation for their job and make their co-workers have to work harder because of their laziness. There are a number of employees in my building who don't belong there and I wish the company could find a way to fire them. They're bad for the Union and UPS.

You may have a point but the solution isn't to fire people. Those people are helping to fund our pension!

Well, actually there is one con as I see it.

Many parasite members of the Union actually don't believe in Unionism and are actually greedy capitalists themselves.

Selfishness is their mantra and Union solidarity is more like a four lettered word to them

You make a valid point. There is mediocrity and laziness in all organizations and job functions.

For the record this same thing happens in management. The only difference is the process by which discipline is adhered to.

Union employee: is disciplined and it goes to a hearing/panel and the decision is to retrain and give them another shot to correct their behavior.

Management employee: disciplined, put on 30/60/90 day notice to clean up act. Either they improve or are rotated to a new job function.

Basically we’re all stuck with each other lol

I like to think these people are actually sociopathic geniuses. You can call them dumb and lazy, but at the end of the day they’re doing jack and other people are picking up the slack. Personally, I have a steady pace and like to stay busy.
