Will they fire me over shoes?

I'm a seasonal PVD and I've been working with barefoot style "boots" with very thin/flexible bottoms, zero-drop from heel to toe, and wide toe box. Anyone who knows anything about the latest foot science would know that barefoot style shoes are by far the safest to avoid trips and sprains, as well as protect the long-term health of your foot and back (raised heels misalign the posterior chain). Our toes are designed to be able to web out and all the muscles of our foot are supposed to be activated while we walk, especially on uneven terrain. Well the problem is that my boss keeps telling me I have to get other shoes and today he said he'll send me home if I don't get regular boots. So naturally, caring about the health of my feet, gait and steadiness I'm going to wear the same shoes on Monday. I'm by far the fastest PVD in my unit, I can blast out 70 packages and 100 miles in 5-6 hours. Will they really fire me because of this? I'm religiously opposed to wearing Chinese foot bindings which is what regular boots are. It's sadistic foot torture.

Wear something else in the morning then switch to yours after you're out of the building. I did most of my air shuttles in slip-on Vans.

Yeah I guess, didn't really think about that. I don't wanna spend money on any foot torture devices though and I don't want to support any brand who makes them.
Are you vaccinated?
Nope not gonna happen bud. I live all-naturalle, I'm on an organ meat and salt diet so my immune system is ironclad.

You like having your toes splayed out. But if you insist on the hippie boots you may end up with your ankle splayed out too. Just saying.

Much less likely with barefoot shoes. You think the native Americans routinely sprained their ankles and ended up handicapped for a month? Or any of our ancestors? Highly doubtful, the native Americans were knowing for being spectacularly agile (look up Puebloan cliff dwellings). With boots, you can't use your foot muscles to keep you stable, you can't use your toes to grip the ground like a chimp. Boots are have thicker rubber, causing your ankle to be more of an inflection point. ALSO, if you catch the side of your boot on something and are going for a sprain, you're going to do a lot more damage due to the design of them which limits movement necessary to avoid putting weight on a sprain when it happens. It's amazing to me that this isn't common sense/common knowledge by now. Modern footwear handicaps your feet. There are 29 muscles associated with the human foot. (10 foot/ankle and 19 intrinsic), why would you want to let those sit mostly limp in a foot-cast?

It's just upsetting when an employer tries to force their bad, outdated medical advice onto you.

And how many of them jumped in and out of a package car 200 times a day?

This seems to be a hot button issue for you for some reason. Native Americans also didn’t get paid to drive around in their personal vehicles delivering packages. Maybe you should forage for some grubs instead.

...so your basically assuming that your shift at UPS is more vigorous and challenging on the feet and ankles vs. our hunter gatherer ancestors? Ehh, I think that's a pretty weak argument. There were certainly FAR more objects for them to trip on vs. the average UPS shift.

It is, because it's about my safety. I have had several employers try and coerce me to do things when there is clear science that it can lead to health issues, or put me in greater risk of injury. I've been wearing barefoot style shoes for years, how do you think I'd fare in clunky boots? I tried them on in the shoe store and nearly fell to my death immediately. I know what I need to wear to keep myself safe, I did this job last year as well with the same shoes and didn't have issues. I do the job really well so it would be disheartening for them to fire me because I didn't want to hurt myself with their bad shoe advice.

The issue is all the people who tried to sue their employer when they got in an accident, and the subsequent laws. If I hurt my ankle on the job because I'm a clumsy doofus, then just fire me for being a clumsy doofus and that's the end of it. That's how it should be, no paperwork involved. There are a lot of safety precautions that workplaces need to implement but this one it backwards and wrong. My feet my choice.

My guy you’re literally a seasonal PVD that almost everyone despises. You can do whatever you want. Call that supervisor’s bluff and show up Monday wearing your go-to’s
