Worker's Comp For Arthritis

I have been employed with UPS for 49 years. I am currently on disability leave for osteoarthritis in both hips and anticipate hip replacement surgery. I received a letter from Employment Development Dept. (Ca.) that I may be eligible for Worker's Comp if I suffered a work-related accident or illness.
I believe I would qualify under the illness aspect of these requirements. Anybody here received Workers' Comp. for osteoarthritis?

You don't have osteoarthritis because of UPS. You have it because you're old and refuse to listen to your body and retire. So it's now breaking down at a faster rate. 49 years with a company in one of the best pension funds in the country. You could have retired 9 years ago.

I hope you get better and I hope you decide to retire and enjoy the rest of your life.

49 years?????? Maybe you could get work comp for the brain injury you suffered about 19 years ago.

Congrats on your longevity. I am guessing you work at one of the air.facilities or feeders. I know those are pretty good places to work in the company. It’s not easy leaving the job you like and the people.

you have to show that injuries was directly caused while working. Arthritis is darn near impossible to prove for comp. Good luck with that. Only thing that may be a plus is that you're in CA lol as they may have a path for you that others don't

Each state has different work comp rules, and I would never tell someone they have no case because I’m not a lawyer. go see a competent Worker’s Comp. lawyer for a consultation. Our local Union has one on retainer. That is quite good. He never loses if he takes your case.

I had NO trouble leaving. I did like my fellow hourly employees and I even liked the job (same route for basically 25 years) but hated management and all the BS Company crap. I still hang out with a lot of people I worked with only now they are retired so we can hang when we want to. I can honestly say I have never missed UPS itself.

The customers are great and cruising around the country is always fun.
Seeing the retirees is definitely a good reminder of what awaits.
