Checked upsers this morning (Firday the 11th). I've been issued a second paycheck for today in the amount shorted.

Thank's for the quick action, UPS.

Double time whether you volunteer or get forced.

Not always.

It used to be that if you volunteered, it was straight time.

If you were forced, it was double time.

The Company had always taken the position that the contract said "required" to work, and volunteers were not required, hence straight time.

@BigUnionGuy can probably tell you the year that a decision changed that practice, and made it double time for volunteers also.

ARTICLE 15-HOLIDAYS

Section 4

Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, regular seniority employees required to work on any of the above named holidays shall receive double his/her regular hourly rate for all hours worked with a guarantee of eight (8) hours for full-time employees and four (4) hours for part-time employees. Also, no employee shall be required to work on Labor Day unless authorized by the local union.
Big Union "Guy" is probably too....busy right now. You realize what time of day it is? Lol.

In that case you can just send me your check then.
Wonder how many would say the same thing if they didn’t pay the 16 hours holiday?
If it were us, we wouldn't be running to some internet forum to get our money, that's for sure.

UPS shorted me my double time and payed me straight time for working on a holiday last week. How could they do this to their best employee?

No good deed goes unpunished here at UPS.

That’s no bueno. Easy enough fix. They either make the correction in a timely fashion or you get penalty pay. He’s doing you a solid.

just chillin'

Rest in peace wooba
myself (a clerk) and three car washers got paid straight time. argument is that it is an air only operation and all support staff get paid straight time under article 40 of the master.

ARTICLE 40. AIR OPERATION
(j) Holiday Work

When it is necessary to provide air service on holidays, the following
procedure shall be used:

(1) The Employer shall offer this work in seniority order to full
time air drivers who have worked at least one (1) day that week
before offering it to part-time air drivers.

(2) When the scheduling needs cannot be met using the above provision,
the Employer shall have the right to force part-time air drivers
and then full-time air drivers to work starting in reverse order of seniority.
If after exhausting the above steps scheduling needs are still not
met, the Employer shall offer the work in seniority order within the
package driver classification. If more drivers are still needed the
reverse seniority order concept will be used for package drivers.
Package car drivers who work on a holiday may make a written
request for an eight (8) hour guarantee. Such written request shall be
made the last work day prior to the holiday. All time worked by these
drivers on a holiday will be paid at the Supplemental holiday rate.

(that would be double time in my local)

(3) The scheduling of the support work will be reviewed with the
Local Union prior to the holiday. If the Local Union believes that
the Employer has scheduled an excessive number of support
employees, it shall have the right to appeal directly to the National
Air Committee. The National Air Committee will review the schedule
and determine whether the Employer has scheduled an excessive
number of support employees. If it is determined by the
National Air Committee that the Employer worked excessive support
employees, the excessive employees worked shall be paid double-
time for hours worked in addition to their holiday pay.

(4) Air drivers and support employees scheduled on a holiday to
ensure air service to the customer, including time performing incidental
work, shall receive straight-time for all hours worked up to
eight (8) hours in addition to the holiday pay. Overtime
provisions shall apply if the employee works over eight (8) hours.
