Is UPS Stock A Buy Amid Coronavirus E-Commerce Boom? – Investor’s Business Daily

United Parcel Service is the world’s largest express carrier and package delivery company. It’s bigger than archrival FedEx. UPS stock plunged due to impact from coronavirus, but then skyrocketed amid the e-commerce boom. But is UPS stock a good buy right now?

Founded back in 1907, the shipping giant offers customers a wide range of supply-chain services, including freight forwarding, fulfillment, customs brokerage, returns and even financial transactions.

Size is key. UPS delivers millions of packages across the globe each day. In 2019 it delivered 21.9 million per day on average. This translates to 5.5 billion packages through the year. UPS also has been investing heavily to adapt to the changing market in the face of the e-commerce revolution.

UPS buys land for Mebane distribution center – Times News

United Parcel Service now owns about 185 acres in Mebane’s North Carolina Commerce Park to build a $262 million distribution center with 451 full-time jobs.

The company bought four parcels of land through Samet Corporation, which manages the industrial park between Interstate 40/85 and Sen. Ralph Scott Parkway that Alamance County and the cities of Mebane and Graham operate together, for about $9.4 million, according to the deed. The site is just north of the Walmart and Lidl distribution centers.

In August, the county and cities approved an incentives package for UPS including a $3.9 million cash grant over five years, waiving $150,000 in development fees and $490,000 in land.

What It Takes To Stay: A Firefighters Account of How UPS Driver Don Gagnon Fought To Save Littlerock From Flames – Thurston Talk

Luckily for the town of Littlerock, UPS Driver Don Gagnon was making deliveries on September 8, 2020. That was the day a raging fire would threaten the community. “It takes a very special kind of person to do this,” says Captain Dyer of the West Thurston Regional Fire Authority.

As a mostly non-descript windstorm tickled the countryside around Littlerock, people didn’t think much of it. Everybody was aware of the blustery day but had little idea of what would come. Suddenly a transformer blew, sending sparks down onto dry material that lay ready to ignite after a hot summer with little rain.

There was nothing to be done, as one family sat in a restaurant watching the events unfold through their home surveillance system that connected to their phones. A quickly moving torrent, a juggernaut wall of smoke and flashing light that advanced with no mercy. Then the power went out, cutting off the feed coming from their home security cameras.
