UPS driver helps Houston woman in identity theft case after spotting fake ID – ABC 13

A Houston woman said getting to know her delivery driver saved her from falling victim in an identity theft case.

“My UPS guy said that’s never happened to him before,” Kayla Sickman said. “He’s been doing this for 32 years.”

Last Friday, a doorbell camera captured the moment a woman approached a UPS truck. Before the driver could deliver the package, the woman asked for it.

She showed him an ID that had her photo, and address where the package was supposed to be delivered. Instead of handing it over, the driver questioned the woman because he knew the real homeowner, Sickman.

How UPS Plans to Deliver a Low-Carbon Future – Triple Pundit

Everyone is familiar with the sound of the UPS delivery truck, the rattle of its engine as it comes around a corner and, of course, the squeal of the brakes as it pulls up in front of your house. But that sound might become a thing of the past—and quite possibly sooner than you think.

As Michael Holder of BusinessGreen recently reported, the logistics giant is considering major changes in its equipment strategy going forward—including, in the words of UPS European director for sustainability Peter Harris, “How do we go beyond the diesel truck?”

As more and more of the world’s economy is moving online, commercial heavy lifting has literally fallen onto the shoulders of delivery companies. Therefore, it’s up to them to find ways to facilitate this surge in deliveries more sustainably and affordably, for both their own and the planet’s survival.

UPS Teamsters locals in New York City, western Pennsylvania ratify contract supplements – Freightwaves

Unionized UPS Inc. (NYSE:UPS) workers in New York City and western Pennsylvania have ratified their respective supplemental agreements to the national contract between UPS and the Teamsters union, bringing the five-year master agreement closer to full implementation.

The actions disclosed by Local 804 in Long Island City, Queens, and by Locals 249 in Pittsburgh and Local 30 in New Stanton, about 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, leave just one local, Local 243 in Detroit, yet to ratify its rider. The national contract cannot be implemented until all UPS locals ratify their respective supplements and riders. If and when that happens, the contract will be retroactive to July 31, 2018.

UPS Capital Suite Of Shipping Insurance APIs Helps Smaller Businesses Access Coverage Through TMS Software

UPS Capital, a subsidiary of UPS (NYSE:UPS), announced today the integration of its suite of shipping insurance APIs into AscendTMS, helping provide access to transactional insurance coverage for small and mid-size shippers.

“Our goal is to provide businesses a frictionless, digital experience for obtaining protection against loss and damage to their shipments and filing claims,” said Mark Robinson, president of UPS Capital. “Investments in our technology suite and collaboration with top technology providers, such as AscendTMS, enable us to deliver this experience.”

While the vast majority of shipments move without issue, a recent study commissioned by UPS Capital revealed that 92% of shippers experience some type of loss, damage or delay each year1.  Offering transactional shipment insurance across a variety of transportation modes can help mitigate the financial risks of day-to-day supply chain incidents.
