Insurance companies and banks are regulated at the state level, no? Then those organizations don't need to step forward. The government has the duty to regulate and enforce contracts and root out fraud. Am I wrong here? I'm not a lawyer.

That being said it wouldn't shock me that the tax valuation is $27 million in order to get out of paying huge property taxes. In that sense something is being skirted with the help of the local tax authorities.

My last property assessment by my county was over 100k less than I sold it for that year. I sure didn't call them and ask them to raise it.

Come on now, no one is mistakenly valuing a billion plus property as only being worth $27 million. FAIK being an older property on the National Historic Registry it may be eligible for certain exemptions. But Trump is known for taking advantage of every avenue he can to protect and grow his money. Many bankruptcies for example. So not surprising.
