I guess anything is possible if you spend enough money. Why put a bunch of money into a $98 piece of garbage? Especially when you can be a reliable AK-47.
Not $98 any more! When they first turned up un the market they were. Last new ones I saw were North of $400. You got a screaming deal.

The biggest flaw with the SKS for me is that there is no reliable way to mount a scope. Iron sights are fine until you hit middle age and your vision isn't what it used to be.

SKS's are good, reliable guns when left in their original configuration. The problems arise when people start adding parts and trying to modify them into something they were never intended to be by using detachable duckbill magazines and mounting scopes on the dust cover.

I put on a new receiver cover with scope mounts soldered on. Scope is secure and reliably mounted. The main problem is when you take the receiver cover off for cleaning it won't return to the same zero.
