Reality check: China is by far and away the world’s #1 polluter.

DOHA, Qatar (AP) — The U.N. chief says rich countries are to blame for global warming and should take the lead in forging a worldwide climate pact by 2015.

Ban Ki-moon says it’s a deadline that “must be met.”

Ban told The Associated Press on the sidelines of U.N. climate talks in Qatar on Wednesday that “it’s only fair and reasonable that the developed world should bear most of the responsibility” in fighting climate change.
Ban says the “phenomenon has been caused by the industrialization of the developed world,” whose factories released carbon dioxide into the atmosphere long before the climate effects were known.

Ban is in Doha to push the negotiations to “accelerate the process” of shifting the world to clean energy pathways and helping the most vulnerable countries adapt to global warming.

Snow-covered deserts are rare, but that's exactly what the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer
(MODIS) on Nasa's Aqua satellite observed as it passed over the

Our climate data is , at least within reasonable detail, is around 150 years old.

150 years is generally veiwed as a blip on the radar, within climate science and it's related scope.

as long as that is understood, it should properly limit the reasonable discussion and discourse, on a scientific level.

Priorities are whacked!!!!

Brilliant, let’s focus on a figment of Al Gore’s imagination instead of trying to get the economy back on track.
Via Guardian:
Barack Obama may intervene directly on climate change by hosting a summit at the White House early in his second term, environmental groups say.

They say the White House has given encouraging signals to a proposal for Obama to use the broad-based and bipartisan summit to launch a national climate action strategy.

“What we talked about with the White House is using it as catalyst not just for the development of a national strategy but for mobilising people all over the country at every level,” said Bob Doppelt, executive director of the Resource Innovation Group, the Oregon-based thinktank that has been pushing for the high-level meeting. He said it would not be a one-off event.

“What I think has excited the White House is that it does put the president in a leadership role, but it is not aimed at what Congress can do, or what he can do per se, so much as it is aimed at apprising the American public about how they can act.”

Campaign groups and major donors have been pushing Obama to outline a strategy on climate change, in the wake of his re-election and superstorm Sandy. [...]

Doppelt said he has had a number of exchanges with White House staff about the summit, and he believed the proposal was under “very serious consideration”. The White House would not respond to requests for comment.

Yet, I think I remember Obama making global warming his#1 priority!!

NASA’s Global Warming Fanatic James Hansen Admits There Has Been No Increase In Global Temperatures Over Last Decade…

You’d think one of the World’s most prominent global warming alarmists admitting there has been no global warming over the last decade would be newsworthy, and you’d be wrong.
James Hansen (NASA) Admits Global Temperature Standstill Is Real — GWPF

The GWPF has been right all along. In a new report Hansen, Sato and Ruedy (2013) acknowledge the existence of a standstill in global temperature lasting a decade.

This is a welcome contribution to the study of global temperature. When others reached the same conclusion they have been ridiculed; so this admission should provide some pause for reflection by those who have attacked the very idea of a recent temperature standstill, often without understanding the data, focusing on who was making the argument and their alleged non-scientific motives. The bottom line is that the recent global temperature standstill is a real event. David Whitehouse, The Global Warming Policy Foundation, 17 January 2013

The five-year mean global temperature has been flat for the last decade, which we interpret as a combination of natural variability and a slow down in the growth rate of net climate forcing. –James Hansen et al., 15 January 2013.

[h=2]Leaked UN Climate Report Shows They Have Overstated Global Warming Going Back 20 Years…[/h]
global-warming-ar5-model-b-550x309.jpg

Busted . . . again.

Via Fox News:
A preliminary draft of a report by the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was leaked to the public this month, and climate skeptics say it contains fresh evidence of 20 years of overstated global warming.

The report — which is not scheduled for publication until 2014 — was leaked by someone involved in the IPCC’s review process, and is available for download online. Bloggers combing through the report discovered a chart comparing the four temperature models the group has published since 1990. Each has overstated the rise in temperature that Earth actually experienced.

“Temperatures have not risen nearly as much as almost all of the climate models predicted,” Roy Spencer, a climatologist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, told FoxNews.com.

“Their predictions have largely failed, four times in a row… what that means is that it’s time for them to re-evaluate,” Spencer said.

The IPCC graph shows that the midpoints of the various models predicted that the world would warm by between about 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit and 0.9 degrees Fahrenheit between 1990 and 2012. Actual warming was much less than that: 0.28 friend, according the data the IPCC cites.

Ah, tornadoes in January. Fun afternoon of warnings, watching them come straight at you then veering north as they get way too close. Sadly tragic for some. My parents live just south of Adairsville and they (Adairsville) got slammed. Supervisor at our building, his wife is 911 operator for that county (Bartow) and for a while she said it was really rough. Same TV station as the pics source below was also reporting a rotating cloud about 5 or so miles as the crow flies from my building but never heard of any touch downs from it. Glad for that.

Yeah, asking sports guys for solutions seems OK. Have you not seen AXLE HECK ??? Now it's a climate task force.....they just disbanded the jobs task force. Round & round she goes where she stops nobody knows. Baffle 'em with b.s., B.O.

Apparently professional athletes hold the keys to saving the planet from Al Gore’s imagination.
Via The Hill:
A new Capitol Hill climate task force wants a wide range of parties — including energy companies, green groups, sports leagues and plenty in-between — to submit suggestions for federal actions to battle global warming.

The letter to 300-plus companies and groups is among the first actions of the Bicameral Task Force on Climate Change that Democrats unveiled last week.

Recipients of the letter include oil and power
companies such as Exxon and Southern Co., think tanks, environmentalists, defense contractors, retailers like Wal-Mart, financial companies like Goldman Sachs, food companies and many other sectors.

Also on the list: the National Football League, the National Basketball Association and other sports leagues.
