The guys that sit in the office and play telephone and send messages. What is their official title and responsibilities?

OMS. Have no idea what it stands for. The morning one at my center's job seems to involve some kneepads and screaming into her personal cell.

I think they are called OMS. The people that handle the phones.
That's her title. Her duties, as far as what she does for UPS and the drivers, is very unclear. What she does for the boss, well.............................

The one at night, well they are on their 8th one since I went out on for surgery.

OMS Is the unsung hero and shyt taker for your center. I always treat these guys especially good because they take it For us.

Total opposite here. They are useless and rag on drivers when they come in late at night like they are sups. I am waiting for my turn to get ragged on so I can embarrass them.

I think that "OMS" stands for Operations Management Staff, although I think the title was changed a few years ago. Our morning staff in my Center do an amazing job, the mid-day and evening staff not so much.

Package Car is cake compared to this...
What do you call those clowns who play those shell games on dark street corners? Yeah, they are the equivalent of the OMS people at UPS.

OMS stands for Operations Management Specialist. However they are not called that any more. The title is now PCS. Package Center Supervisor. They take care of concerns, messages, run reports for the business manager, answer the phones, send on call airs those types of things. Most are part-time. I hope that helps.

Deplorable.
We have 4 in our center. One in morning, one in afternoon, two at night. The morning lady and the two night people are great.

The idiot that works the afternoon sends EVERY FRIGGIN ODS EVENT in the loop I deliver in to me because she's too stupid to look-up the address to figure out who it's supposed to go to. Then she gets angry when I override them and send them back, telling me "don't send them back, the center gets gigged", to which I reply "that's too bad, don't send me ones that aren't mine and there will be no need for the center to get gigged".

It's going to come to blows between the two of us before it's all said and done; I have no patience for office-dwellers.

Without the OMS gals at night, our center would implode. They do what the sup's and managers can't do. Run a center correctly and smoothly. At least the evening portion.

Arrange meets, answer phones, take care of concerns, relay messages, organize whatever needs to be done in the dispatch office...assist with dispatch, assist call centre, assist front counter, assist drivers with the people who DEMAND to be called before delivery..there is no cut and dried list of duties for all OMS..it depends on the centre, the shift(morning vs afternoon)..it's a thankless job, alot of verbal abuse from customers and sometimes drivers..and part time..a job I was doing 20 years ago..for the same rate of pay at 'the competitor'...moved to the island...started over..
Thank you to all you drivers who know where the sh** hits the fan..and assisting us...we appreciate any help or extra effort you do to get that pkg delvd..yesterday,..today..tomorrow..
