From reading here your peak was a cluster no matter who's at fault that can't help payouts.
Payouts have been poor for years, even when profits were quite healthy. Instead of this joke of an "incentive", we used to get profit-sharing, which was a substantial amount, and directly tied to the profitability of Express. Bringing it back, and killing crap like the Purple Promise would help somewhat, but what you can't seem to understand is that our basic compensation system is laughable. Motivating people who are severely underpaid and then have to pay through the nose for an incredibly expensive "benefits" program is almost impossible. Morale really couldn't be much lower. This has a direct tie-in with customer service and productivity.
