The gov't works for me .
Except around here the potholes don't get fixed , the bridges are falling apart because all available funds are needed to fill pension liabilities .
Checkout Chicago ; $2B unfunded pensions ,
teachers starting salaries at $70,000 , the next Detriot .
Google friend-35 spending for more outrage .... I can't look anymore ... only have so much bourbon for the day.
The growing Defense Budget is nothing more than a welfare program for defense contractors. Strange how you don't see Right Wingers complaining about the Pentagon wasting money on a stealth jet that can't fly in the rain, or ballistics gear that is left in foreign war zones because it's cheaper to leave it there than ship it back.
Where are these Right Wing tax hounds I hear so much about?!

Truth be told, there does seem to be a line of disagreement within the Republican party right now when it comes to defense spending. Hopefully we'll see it play out pretty soon in the budget talks.

Of course, that line is drawn between keeping their budget where it is now, or throwing more money at them. That line gets even more blurred because Obama also wants to increase military spending. Those who don't want to increase military spending, like Rand, are going to find themselves walking a fine line as to not disenfranchise the base of the party that has been calling Obama's foreign policy weak. The war hawks won't have a hard time making him look bad if he sticks to his principles.

Its only profitable for a very select few CEOs and shareholders of military suppliers/contractors. The only time war really improved an economy was WWII and that was only, because we were in a depression at the time. Part of the cause of the Great Recession were two unfunded wars being fought. Remember when bush told American's to not worry about the cost and to go out and shop? National debt was doubled and the GOP had nary a word to say about it.The republics only cared about the deficit, when Obama became president. This has been the republican strategy since Nixon. When they are in power, they spend like drunken sailors. Once out of power, they start screaming about the deficit and blame the democrats for it.

i mean they are very right wing but they are corporatists. ron paul is the only one i know who is honest, but i think he hypes up free markets too much. ron paul is also a socialist in a sense that he signed onto some pro cooperative legislation.

yea i saw how bush expanded the debt with wars and tax cuts for the rich. one interesting theory i heard is the republicans like to go into debt, because it creates a good excuse to cut social programs which the wealthy are opposed to. i think reagan really expanded the debt as well.

then when the banks started collapsing, it was OK to bail them out and go in debt. but after the banks were "taken care of" then all of a sudden we need to be "fiscally responsible" which means make cuts to average joes who had little to do with the great recession. i think it was chomsky the other day who said theres nothing in economic history that says you should cut your way out of a recession / depression. its class war.

but i think alot of democrats are war mongers as well. you cant just vote republican or democrat, you have to know who it is your voting for because theres a corporate stronghold over politics and most of them are bought off.

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/03/24/i-team-tobin-bridge-toll-fees-could-cost-drivers-their-jobs/
BOSTON (CBS) – For a lot of people, including the governor who takes the Tobin Bridge from the North Shore, open road tolling makes a lot of sense. There is no stopping at toll booths and less traffic.
But that is not necessarily the case for all drivers, particularly those who don’t have transponders and opt to use Pay-by-Plate, a system where a photo is taken of the driver’s license plate and a bill is sent to address where the car is registered. Richard Fay of Lynnfield is one of those drivers. “I was kind of floored,” he said talking about the bill he got for going over the bridge 17 times.
At $3 per toll he expected a bill for around $51. He admits he was late paying the toll and was even prepared for a late fee. But he wasn’t prepared for the bill stating he owed $1059. “It felt like extortion,” he said. For Renee Barretto, it was even worse. Her two dozen trips over the Tobin turned into $4,569. “I felt hopeless,” she said.

Renee and Richard both got hit with late fees. MassDot charges $50 for each toll that is not paid 60 days, another $40 dollars on top of that if it goes unpaid for a total of 120 days. The fees continue to grow the longer the bill goes unpaid.
MassDot did offer to cut Renee’s bill in half, but even $2,000 is more money than she can come up with and the agency refused to allow her to pay it off monthly. If she doesn’t pay by the end of March, she’ll lose her license and her job.

Tolls are an example of "pay by use" as opposed to "pay by ability" which would be based on how much income or wealth you have.

We have a toll bridge, and they waste all this money on building camera technology, and I cant imagine how many people they have to hire to collect tolls. I even heard they were going to create this other kind of toll where they take your money based on when and where u travel and have technology all over the place. its a total waste.

the simple thing would be to raise taxes, becuase then you save on bureacracy and on the cost of implementing this technology. the just thing would be to only raise taxes on the super rich.

parking meters are another example of "pay by use". you have to hire parking enforcement and people to clean out the meters, and you have to pay to set up the meter themselves. its a total waste.

#4 Almost half of all Americans (47 percent) do not put a single penny out of their paychecks into savings.

#5
In 2014, police in the United States killed 1,100 people. During that same year, police in Canada killed 14 people, police in China killed 12 people and police in Germany didn’t kill anyone at all.

#9 When LBJ’s “War on Poverty” began, less than 10 percent of all U.S. children were growing up in single parent households. Today, that number has skyrocketed to 33 percent.

#10 In 1950, less than 5 percent of all babies in America were born to unmarried parents. Today, that number is over 40 percent.

#11 The poverty rate for households that are led by a married couple is 6.8 percent. For households that are led by a female single parent, the poverty rate is 37.1 percent.

#13 According to the CDC, 34.6 percent of all men in the U.S. are obese at this point.

#14 The average supermarket in the United States wastes about 3,000 pounds of food each year.

#21 According to a study conducted by economist Carl Benedikt Frey and engineer Michael Osborne, 47 percent of the jobs in the United States could soon be lost to computers, robots and other forms of technology.

#27 One survey of 50-year-old men in the U.S. found that only 12 percent of them said that they were “very happy”.

#28 The United States has 845 motor vehicles for every 1,000 people. Japan only has 593 for every 1,000 people, and Germany only has 540 for every 1,000 people.

:censored2: capitalism. workers should have more control over the jobs they work in. capitalism is too heiarchical

ricky, or Klein, whoever you are,
Why don't you tell us what's wrong with Canada.
You don't live in the USA; obviously you don't want to live in the USA; so why must you incessantly demean everything about us?

I truly don't get it. Crawl back in your hole, worry about your home country's problems, and leave ours to us.

Please
