The Story Of James P. Hoffa, How The Son Of A Notorious Racketeer Became An Honest Leader Of The Teamsters – All That’s Interesting

For the 14 years James P. Hoffa’s father Jimmy was at the helm of the Teamsters, he was in bed with the mafia. But when James became president in 1998, he ran on a campaign of diversity and anti-corruption.

To put it mildly, Jimmy Hoffa was a controversial man. Until Hoffa’s sudden disappearance in 1975, he had no problem courting organized crime as leader of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. But his notorious legacy did not stick to his son, James P. Hoffa.

Despite leading the same union as his father for nearly 25 years, James P. Hoffa had little in common with him besides their infamous name. Indeed, the younger Hoffa ran the union with almost surgical precision, turning it into one of the strongest organized labor unions in the country.

UPS Stops Flying Cargo Planes Over Russia – Wall Street Journal

Some American cargo airlines have stopped flying over Russia, even though they haven’t been banned from its airspace in the wake of U.S. sanctions introduced last week.

United Parcel Service Inc. is among those air carriers taking longer, alternative routings on flights to and from the U.S. and Asia, adding flight time and higher fuel costs to the already stretched global supply chain.

U.S. cargo carriers such as UPS, FedEx Corp., Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc. and Kalitta Air LLC regularly flew over Russia before the invasion of Ukraine and continued for several days after. They have been almost absent since the U.S. banned Russian aircraft from its airspace on March 2.

FedEx, UPS and other cargo carriers including the DHL unit of Deutsche Post AG had already suspended delivery services to and from Russia.
