Yes. BecauseSo close 200 buildings to save money, yet have to spend more money on fuel due to driving farther from buildings to deliver?
What delusions? As automation improves more and more jobs are toast. And the delusions continue
More efficient to pay one a bit more than paying many, plus you save on operation costs. So close 200 buildings to save money, yet have to spend more money on fuel due to driving farther from buildings to deliver?
The UPS way, trip over a hundred dollar bill to save a penny. So close 200 buildings to save money, yet have to spend more money on fuel due to driving farther from buildings to deliver?
What costs less, having drivers do some extra miles, or operating an extra hub 24/7? I am thinking driving more. The UPS way, trip over a hundred dollar bill to save a penny.
The volume they have been cutting includes customers with low-margin or even unprofitable business. FedEx has been doing the same thing. Why would a business keep a customer that they are not making profit from? Those customers also have limited choices in the market as USPS has also been raising rates so they have to sign with one of the big three or ship some volume with regional carriers but that limits the customers reach and service is not always that great. Keep in mind that UPS posted a 6.5% year-over-year increase in average daily U.S. volume in Q3, its highest growth rate in three years. To be fair, that's an increase over a crappy period of time with depressed volume but it does show growth so at least they are gaining, presumably, volume lost from the negotiations period as well as FedEx and/or USPS volume.![]()

Closing buildings isn't going to do it....if it isn't broke don't fix it, it's been this way for years and worked and they made plenty of money.Sorry, but I want the company to do well, keeping full timers working, keeping the pension flush.
