Everybody is poor in socialism
Words of a person whose first 12 years of education came free courtesy of a PUBLIC education system that does have it roots in socialist ideals. Try paying that tab out of yours or parents pocket. College? You couldn't even begin to pay the fees that would be needed to be charged without publicly funded support . Typical conservative hypocrite. You want all the benefits that publicly supported programs can provide for you but don't want others to have the same.

Free?
Dear lord, you're stupid.

SOMEONE had to pay for every single service that is offered for "free".

They're called taxpayers. So if you are a taxpayer, you could just keep the money, and buy it yourself. No government needed.

Ok Lets' raise it to 72 like former Senator Rick Santorium wants to do. Words from a guy who is drawing federal benefits . Are you willing to wait until you're 72 to begin drawing Social Security?
I'm willing to get nothing from it until I am unable to work and support myself financially. Never would be fine with me.

It should be a safety net for poor people who are physically incapable of working. We could slash the tax if that's what the program was.

....When FiCA contributions end how do you continue to fund existing obligations?

liquidate the obligation into my 401K plan. your question highlights government work.
in government work everything is too complicated to undue. Socialized care is implemented knowing it will be impossible to be undone once its started.
the ponzie scheme thus flourishes as we throw more money into the black hole.

the glorious good news about SS

Whowever Social Security has been bringing in more money than it has paid out since 1982 making it pretty tough to pass legislation to boost tax percentages. It did however over the years raise the earnings cap How else do you account for the 2.9 trillion is reserves it has loaned out to general revenues which by the way currently earns SS 2.85% interest .

and how its done

Legislation passed in 1983 gradually phased in a higher retirement age from 65 to the current 67 and if the age was raised again you would be among the cluckers hollering the loudest.

the ultimate ponzi scheme. force them to pay in then reduce their benefits.

Liquidate your obligation into your 401K? So you're saying that you're willing to pay help Social Security's total benefit obligations out of your 401K.? Might work IF EVERYBODY worked for a company that had a 401K AND it MAINTAINED it's contribution to it which as we saw in the last recession some didn't do . In addition would both the employer and employee both CONTRIBUTE ENOUGH and the plan EARNS ENOUGH to generate a payout LARGE ENOUGH?

And then again what is your solution for Medicare? FICA taxes support both.

Are you trying to tell me that you're tax dollars would alone pay the entire cost of your children's K-12 and college education at a private institution of learning with no public funding support of any kind?

The open question is at what age will you become unable to work and at what age will you be when nobody is willing to hire you because of the risk factors involved with age and health?

Well you want Medicare for all, so the government provided doctor should be able to determine that right?

The proposal is for a public option to be included with the offerings private for profit insurance companies place on the insurance exchanges. If you DON"T WANT THAT OPTION YOU DON"T HAVE TO PURCHASE IT. Not what is it about that proposal you don't understand? Then again if you can't AFFORD the premiums private insurers want for their insurance products and the public option is the one and only plan you can afford you're not fooling anybody because if you were in that position you would take the public option because it sure as hell would be better than nothing at all.
