Why are the pensions comprised of different hours for pension credit? I’ve read 500 hours to 1800 hours? Not sure how true that is.

For us, it's 500 for the year to count towards PEER. But to get max credits for your benefits, you have to work 2080 hrs for the year. I am assuming it's the same for all UPSers in the Western Region, but different locals and Joint Councils might have negotiated different terms.

Yep, you could double dip and keep earning pension credits. Why stop at 80?
You don’t need credits after 80. It’s your contributions multiplied by the accrual rate that determines your benefit amount. It’s up from the typical 1.2% to 1.5% in 2020.
