yea it is. we are products of our environment to some degree. there was a combination of things in your life regardless of what you did that led you to where you are.
in america theres tons of bad men and sometimes it takes wisdom and luck to know which is which.
Just because you grow up poor or in a bad environment doesn’t mean you have to wallow in it as an adult. It’s all about personal choices and personal responsibility.

That’s only true if you ignore the mental health impacts of growing up poor or in an abusive environment.
Then maybe we shouldn't encourage people to grow up in poor and abusive environments.
Also, we can blame our parents our whole lives for being bad parents and use that as an excuse. Or we can strive to do better. I’m all for the later rather than the former.
Choices. Wallow or fight your way out.

your parents is certainly a factor beyond your control that will partially influence your life.
That’s not how mental health works. Would you tell someone with a broken spine to fight their way to walking? That’s it’s a choice to be crippled?
Nope! I refuse to allow ANYONE to keep me down. Some have tried. I’ll always come out ahead as long as I’m physically or mentally capable.
why not both? why conform and try and only work within an unjust system?

Hell yeah, fight it. Only the strong survive. Look at the veterans coming back from war with hellacious injuries and missing limbs. Many of them fight every day and refuse to give up. Who am I to give up?
