I am treated like a kindergartner and paid like a day laborer. Therefore freddy gets what he pays for. The customer is unfortunately in the crossfire of that
i thought u went over to the brown side already?

Yeah, let's not reward people for working hard. Only give them extra for dancing on the end of a string. Two tiered system, and the mid-range tier is being exploited. And ok, I'll bite. What's an actor-observer bias?

Could the 28% increase in ground come from the shifting of ES to ground followed by a national roll out of the "one rate box" that has been in testing in a few markets? I haven't seen mention of that in the speculation thread...
UpStater i like you
Here is the difference between me and you
You are compensated properly for the work you do. Therefore you do the right thing

I believe all frontline hourlies got a raise recently...
Actor-observer asymmetry describes your reasoning that something is bad, wrong, or whatever except when you do it because you're always completely justified. friend'instance, FedEx is the devil for seeking greater economic efficiency with its assets, but when you, me, and everyone does the same thing, it's only because [insert excuse here].
Did you know you can scan the Ground packages at dropboxes? Leaving them in the dropbox accomplishes nothing. Also heard this one today. Please do not leave any ground pkgs in drop boxes. If they are in there take them out and bring back to the station.
Thats a good one. Hope they don't hold there breath waiting for me to handle grounds pkgs. Aint happening
Well said."Doing the right thing" does not have a $ attached to it.
I keep hearing the term 'fair wage'. Yet, nobody has ever put a dollar amount on what they consider a fair wage. I GUARANTEE that no matter how much you get paid, it won't be enough.Yes it does or fed ex would pay thier empoyees a fair wage.
He's not alone. I've seen posts where a courier sat and waited till 10:31 with a bulk stop to 'punish' the company. All this does, assuming the customer actually demands their money back, is keep company income down and gives them a good reason not to give raises. You should do your job or quit. That simple. Just because your disgruntled doesn't mean you start sabotaging the company you work for. It's borderline psychotic.
when you, me and everyone else maximize our efficiency we buy less gasoline and bike to work, or buy rice and beans instead of caviar. you, me and everyone else do not screw over hundreds of thousands of human beings trying to earn a living and use the windfall for luxury consumption, debt or shareholder service. that's the obvious difference between a multinational corporation and a working person.I believe all frontline hourlies got a raise recently...

I interviewed last month for the seasonal driver position
Individual in HR who I interviewed with strongly advised against doing it when I told her i was a fedex driver.Said she never recommends anyone take the position who is currently employed. Way too many variables and really a long shot to catch on permanent. She said you could do a great job and if there is no spot open there is nothing I can do for you. I tried as best possible to explain the dire situation at Express too her and she was oblivious and knew nothing about it. Thought it was still a great company to work for. The way it works at UPS is a temp can only work 2 seasons. Start in may-laid off in September-if you do a good enough job called back in october and work thru xmas. So as I am walking out the door she tells me if I am really set to do it call her in september that way i can work thru xmas and then i can come back the following year in may and work till september. For whatever reason she said that might give me a better chance of catching on permanent. If I had to guess it might be the contract situation her thinking some employees might leave and might give me a better chance of getting permanent. Still haven't decided if i am going to do it. Probably will but not sure.
No because you left your job voluntarily for one you knew was not permanant.I've thought about the same thing. My question is...If I took the seasonal job at UPS and once I was laid off would I be able to collect unemployment? Given, the fact I've been a full time employee for 9 years. I'm assuming yes? Any thoughts?

I remember an oncall on a Saturday in the early 90's in southern Texas, pkg addressed to Houston, about 300 miles away. I asked the lady if she wanted Monday morning delivery. She almost started crying as she said "you mean you can't deliver it this afternoon"? Important report she was late on. I've heard some amazing remarks by customers over the years. Several have acted surprised when they learned we didn't immediately run their pkg out to the airport to put on the next outbound plane. Couldn't get to a customer during a tropical storm in southern Mississippi. He got my phone number, called me at home and threatened to alert the national media and file a lawsuit against me and FedEx if I didn't bring his pkg. Called mgr who sent pkg by taxi 80+ miles one way to deliver it. Taxi driver told mgr next day that guy made him stand there and witness him checking contents. Counted out $50,000 in cash from letter! That's the thing about FedEx. Many of our customers have serious money and they are serious kooks. I try to give good service to the elderly needing their meds, but anyone else it really depends on the person.

UPS has GSR's (Guaranteed Service Refunds) which covers this. There is also a cottage industry of companies established for/with the sole purpose of tracking packages and requesting refunds when we screw up. Companies would forward their tracking numbers to one of these companies which would then track their packages for them, whether for a percentage or a flat fee. This is why UPS has changed their website tracking to only 25 tracking numbers per request.
Apples and oranges. And you don't think you are completely justified making personal attacks?

I understand. But, the shipper or recipient must file a claim. UPS nor FedEx won't just hand back money....correct?UPS has GSR's (Guaranteed Service Refunds) which covers this. False. If you enter into a job knowing you won't have that job after X amount of days because it's temporary, you can not collect. The only way you can collect is if you lose your job through 'no fault of your own'.Oh so the ground jockey is now a specialist in labor laws. Go figure. Wrong. He can collect. Every tom dick and harry out there is bleeding the unemployment system. Obamas giving it to everyone. Just cause he knew it was a temp job means squat. Stick to overseeing ex cons and grifters. Thats what you are good at
