I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m an aficionado, but I tend to gravitate to blues-y singers.
A buddy and I took a spur-of-the-moment road trip from Texas to Chicago many years ago. We popped in to Buddy Guy’s Legends Club on an open mic night hoping to catch a glimpse of Buddy. He did show up an hour later in a Hawaiian shirt and straw hat. Didn’t get to see him play, but did meet him. Awesome guy.
