Application Status Changes - YES, AGAIN....

Do you need an air compressor or tire gauge
Hi all, new member here. I've been doing a lot of reading on the forums, have utilized the search function, and still haven't found an exact response to my question, so I'm posting a new one...as much as I know y'all are going to hate me for it, LOL.

UPS had a package handler position listed on Indeed about a month ago. I filled out an application online, but was too late - by the time I filled out the app, the job was no longer available. They said my app would remain on file if other jobs opened up. Last week, on Tuesday, I got an email from an HR lady at a local hub that positions had opened up and requesting me to complete my application online and that interviews/facility tour would be held Wed. at 6:30 a.m. I completed the application and "booked" the tour/interview for the next morning. Wed. morning I got there plenty early, had a great tour and interview, the HR lady was very complimentary of my appearance (4 of the 6 that showed up looked like they literally got out of bed and came in), that I had brought a resume, had asked thoughtful questions, had a great background, etc. She said she had to run a background check, but expected to call me in a few days and have me in there working within a week or two.

The day after the interview, I logged in and my application was "active" for "Load/Unload AM" & the additional documents section had been opened up in my application, and even though I hadn't heard from anyone, I went ahead and filled them all out (I figured I was being proactive/showing I wanted the job). It's been 6 days and I haven't heard from anyone. My dumb*ass didn't get HR's contact info (I didn't start reading these forums until after my interview/tour). When I log into my application now (since yesterday), it says "inactive/application on file" and is completely locked.

Any thoughts of whether this is a good/bad progression of things? Suggestions of how to follow-up? Should I try to call and get a phone number/email for HR, or should I just show up to inquire about the status of my application/express my interest. There is nothing in my background that would be an issue on the background check, so I don't think that's it. Just getting restless. And YES, I know from reading on here that they like to keep you in limbo and it can take a while. I'm just concerned about the progression from opening up the additional documents, which I took as a good thing, to the application now being listed as "inactive," which I took as bad. This is at the Durham, NC hub, and they said they had several positions open, and there were only 6 of us there that day (and like I said, 4 of the 6 did not appear to be impressing the HR lady - per HER). Any thoughts? Thanks!
i hope you keep your glove box clean because that is what they are looking for

I do want to compliment the OP for not using his real name. This shows an attention to detail that some don't have.

I would also suggest the OP NOT tell everyone that he's on this forum.

It feels like this whole thing is a test, LOL. They literally called me at 8:50 to ask if I could be there at 10 for orientation (which lasted all of 45 minutes). I made it, because luckily I have family nearby that can help, so I dressed the almost-2-year-old and ran to drop her at Nana's & got my butt over there, but I can't imagine many people in normal life would be able to make that work on an hours' notice! #gratefulforfamily
The regular shift will be early morning yes. Loading package cars probably. Try to get a groove going with your family so that you can regularly sleep more than 6 hours prior to the morning shift because the job is really not fun when you are tired. I personally just installed a few noise-cancelling tiles in the room I sleep in.

Preload is like %90 experience and how long you have loaded the same assignment but a good organization method is to load the small residential stop numbers in order like a bookshelf. The larger stuff, especially 5 or more pieces, I ignore the shelf position/hin and utilize the corners of the car to maximize space. 2000, 3000, the butt end of all 4 shelves, and the floor positions are all really good spots to seperate a bulk stop from the ones's and twos's. The benefit becomes obvious real quick you and the driver can now load and unload bulk while only needing to step a few feet into the vehicle.

Stack most anything longer than 3ft outside of the car until all the smalls have been loaded.

Thanks eats packages. My "plan" for sleep is that everybody will lay down at 8pm & I will go right to sleep while wife gets baby to bed and eventually goes to sleep herself. Sleep 5-ish hours until 1/1:30, then get up and go to work. Wife will get up at 7am w/ the 12-year-old and get him off to school, then take baby to Nana's on her way to work. I'll get off & come home to nap for a couple hours before going to pick up baby for the rest of the day while wife is at work. I've never been one who needs a ton of sleep, though I realize this job is going to be more physical than what I'm used to. May have to adjust, but that's what we're going to try now. Again, grateful to have a pops who doesn't have to work until 4pm, so can hang w/ the baby for a couple hours in the morning.

My job title as of right now is load/unload AM. She said we'll be starting anywhere between 2am and 4am, and working until 7am-8am - 9am at latest if there's a late truck. I realize they can spew BS, but that's what I was told. We'll see what actually happens :)

What preload in the country is starting at 230am in February?
My preload, we start 3:00AM T-friend and 1:00AM Monday to clean up an air-only Saturday (snow in the forecast for Saturday)
Remember the places that need bodies the most right now are those growing cities. We never not get enough volume in these parts.

Ignore what I said earlier, you are unloading inbound volume, literally a brain-dead job, the only thing to think about the whole time is your body motion and not straining or otherwise injuring yourself.
Don't be afraid to liberally push that extendo all the way up to the wall of packages and then simply dumping them all onto it.

You are saying this to somebody who references "loading packages" as "cramming and crushing them into the nearest available cakehole" and "loading boxline bins" as "scoring a slam dunk" or "rebounding off the rim"
Please explain to me how dropping something 2 feet from the top of the wall directly onto a powered belt is worse than having to twist your body around to reach it.

Just wanted to follow up: I GOT HIRED! Got called at 850 this morning and asked to be at orientation at 10am and start Monday at 2:30am. And FYI, my application now says "active." I was stressing about the app being listed as "inactive," but apparently that doesn't matter. Just mentioning it in case anyone else is in a similar situation/has a similar question. Looking forward to joining Brown!
You’re following in greatness if you are replacing the @Bestsorteralive

Get that crap in. Wherever there is space, shove a box into it. Don’t stack out long ones, just throw em on the shelf somewhere. Preloaders have to load 3-4 trucks, drivers can handle one truck
