...including single parent households and generational welfare...?
Generational welfare seems fairly straight forward. Good paying jobs in a sustainable economy increases tax revenue for educational reform which in turn builds economic growth.

Single parent households is a little bit more obscure and probably less impacted. The two major reasons for divorce are money and children. Reduce the monetary strains and maybe divorce rates decline, maybe more families are single incomes and a parent is more active in kids' lives because of it. Divorce is still going to happen. 50% or more marriages end that way. Doesn't mean there can't be improvement.

And OWS was (possibly still is) a largely peaceful movement. What has been going on is only race related insomuch as a high percentage of blacks are unemployed and/or poor. It's more about economic just like it's always been.
OK. But your original post suggested that peaceful demonstrations were ineffective & you've been shown otherwise.

No matter how many jobs and what they pay, people still need to show up every day, all day for 40 years. We all see it. Can't get people to show up for a week.

Economics is the underlying puzzle. Solve that, all else falls into line.
Some sort of solid family foundation with structure, discipline & values helps as well.

A few fun facts about poor people....

1)People on in the U.S. on welfare, with multiple children, living in subsidized housing and getting food stamps are in the top 1% of income earners in the world.

2)This is the only country where the poor people are fat.

3) It is possible to be poor (by American standards) and not behave like an animal.

Selma was Southern Democrats turning violent against peaceful protesters, not visa versa. It was the peaceful side that won in the end.
Violence is violence and it gets people's attention, doesn't matter who "starts it". I don't advocate for it but do realize it as historical fact.

Contrary to what you seem to believe, most of the poor in Baltimore are not acting "like animals".

The problem is those who are acting like animals.

"""My question to you is, when we were out here protesting all last week for six days straight peacefully, there were no news cameras, there were no helicopters, there was no riot gear, and nobody heard us," she said. "So now that we've burned down buildings and set businesses on fire and looted buildings, now all of the sudden everybody wants to hear us."""

The name calling, the defining and the race hating on this board is exactly why race relations in this country continues to be a problem.

Baltimore had 6 days of peaceful protests, and plenty of incidents where white people on the sidewalks were shouting the nword to peaceful protesters as they walked by, and yet the only criticism is you people can find is that they are black and all have single parents.

There were plenty of white people in those protests, but not one word from any of you on the multitudes of races involved.

For you people, its just another opportunity to hate on blacks.

In this photo, captured by cell phone, shows a bar behind police barricades. As protesters walked by, the white men at the bar shouted the nword at the crowd telling them "Nwords go home" "get off our streets"....

Some of the men walking in the protest went up to these men to address them personally.

This was just one example of the sparks that set that city on fire.

There were plenty of white people walking in these protests in baltimore.

But what is escaping this thread is the death of Freddie Gray.

The narrative is being changed by the media by focusing on the rioting.

There should be federal investigation into the death of mr gray and those responsible for his death should be charged for their actions.

Having his neck 80% severed after being placed into a police vehicle is something that is OUTRAGEOUS and should be our focus instead of just blaming the black community.

TOS.
