Really? For a chance at life in the US? I’d do it.
A 13yo or 15yo I can understand. They’re probably much more mature than an American at that age and probably actually are in danger of being forced into prostitution or gang life depending on where they live.

Elian Gonzalez enters this country illegally from Cuba. We round him up and send him back home. Conservatives have a fit.
Central Americans cross our border and Conservatives have a fit if we let them stay.
What makes you guys and gals happy?

I can imagine living conditions in Mexico such that the gamble would seem worth it, yes.
By the time the leftists get done with this country, you might actually be better off well established in a drug cartel. Drugs are a great hedge against inflation, meth heads don’t care how much it cost they are just gonna steal for it anyway.

Probably due to Janet Reno sending in storm troopers with automatic weapons to rip a little kid out of his relatives arms. And sending him back to a communist country.

Highly likely Central Americans, not Mexicans.
No. True story.

my buddy’s wife works for a work comp company. Guy with family in America got killed on the job. Family is begging the company not to send them the $500k payout to the wife because the cartels will kill her if she gets that money. It’s complicated, but Mexico is not Cancun.

I've spent 4 months total in Mexico in 3 different cities plus 5 years on the border. Mexico certainly isn't Cancun, but it's not the Wild West either. Most of the people trying to get into the U.S. are Central Americans. And they're the most likely to stay. Many Mexicans return home after they meet their savings goals.
