Big Announcement

Well I placed a 2 day shipping order from Amazon this past week and they used Fed-x. It took Fed-x four days to find me so guess what. It got refused and many e-mails as to why they didnt use UPS. They will loose me as a customer if they are going to use Fedx.

They have shipped my orders DHL and it's taken a week or two to get to me from a state or two away (1-2 day GROUND TRANSIT by us). I emailed them regarding it and they refunded my shipping fees and apologized for the choice in service.

Announcements that are expected to punish the stock are made on Friday evening.

Good news is usually made Monday mornings.

We could see the DHL announcement maybe, but I highly doubt that we will be hearing bad news on Monday morning.
Sounds right.

Then again this isn't the first time we have seen a thread announcing a "Big Announcement" that ended up fizzling. Check out the List of Similar Threads at the bottom of the page:peaceful:

Somebody DID fall and get hurt the other day. UPS is reviewing the security tapes to make sure he really fell here. What a joke!

I hope they don't go private at like $46

I really doubt they'd go private, but why do you say that?

I remember the private days. It seemed it was easier to get things done and cost wasn't bird-dogged as much as it is now. It was still bird dogged but there were more events held. Now the only way to do something is to pair it up to benefit the united way.

Because I will have to find another place to make money...UPS stock has been a cash cow for years. 100 shares can easily make you at least $2000 a year.

My math could be wrong but in order for the above statement to be true:
$2000 divided by 4 (quarters in a year) equals $500 a quarter.

$500 divided by 100 shares equals $5 per share dividend per quarter.

this doesn't sound right but I could be wrong.

Quite simply, selling calls and puts. Collecting about $150 to $300 every month. (each put and call represents 100 shares) Selling a put (near the money) if I don't own the stock but don't mind if I do. And selling a call (near the money) if I own the stock.

Also,

No Management Layoff
No Buyout
No Healthcare plan change
No MIP Change
No Retirement Plan Change

Overlall, not too bad given the worldwide economic condition.

Also, a "small amount" will be set aside for merit increases for specialist level employees (at least they are attempting to look out for the little guy.) I expect MIP and LTIP will be the next domino to fall for 2009.

Not sure where you got the information, but I know that my healthcare plan has changed: I'm paying roughly double a month what I paid last year with the exact same coverage plan.

Seems like a pretty big sacrifice for the FT mgmt team and non-union side, I hope all factions of the business are willing to look at similar steps if necessary...it's getting pretty nasty out there...

Let's remember the union side has already sacrificed with significant lay-offs.
