A United Parcel Service driver attempted to cross a private bridge that collapsed under the truck’s weight at 1:41 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

The single-lane bridge has a metal truss system and wood decking.

The Catlett Volunteer Fire and Rescue Co. responded to the accident, which produced no injury.[/url]

So if you have a road with 20 houses on it, and the only way to get down the road is over a bridge like that, you would refuse to deliver to those 20 houses?

I had a few bridges like that was always a little nervous going over them

One in particular you could see the support's swaying a bit

They all had plank decks that rumbled like crazy when driven over

I have a few and I also have a customer who has one at the end of her driveway where a creek runs parallel to the road. She was having gravel spread on her driveway about 2 months ago and the dump truck collapsed her bridge. Lol.

If the oil truck or the milk tanker crossed them, I did.

nowhere special
We have county highway bridges that are probably at least that dangerous.

The county bridges usually have signs saying the reduced weight limit though. I still wouldn't trust some of them in a heavy truck that was supposedly under the limit.
