Old Man Jingles

Rat out of a cage
I smoked a joint with him and his son one night outside behind the stage ... security was a bit lax. The Earle's didn't mind since I had the joint.
A bit rocky but he always thought he was country and every time I saw him he was the lead-in for a country artist.

This is as rednecky as you can get but this is one of those great songs that everyone seems to know.
David Allen imitates the singers he is mentioning in the song.

Alan Jackson is from Newnan, GA and he reported to one of my friends at the K-Mart Distribution center.
Alan was a fork-lift operator and my buddy said he was always writing songs and singing while sort-of-working.

This is a song about Hank Williams Sr. aka Luke the Drifter.
If you ever hear a line about Luke the Drifter, they are talking about Hank Sr.

This is a band from Atlanta that tours all over the East Coast.
They can rock, and usually do, but this is one of their country songs.
I've seen them too many times to count ... now that they are touring I'm lucky to catch them twice a year.

Age quod agis
Once upon a time music stars got TV shows. I got sucked out of the bubblegum world I lived in once a week because Daddy liked Johnny.

You grow up and Johnny throws this monster at you...

Raw.
Painful.
No jingles.
No melody.
And in the end you didn't call him Johnny Cash.
You just say, "Cash."
