Collecting your PPA

My question to management was met with a merky response at best. Do you formally retire with 10 yrs of service and file to collect that quasi real portable pension? Or do you resign and collect it on your own via website/phonecalls? Does anyone have any insight on this?

You let H.R. know at least 30 days in advance your intended last day. They'll give you the number of the Retirement office who will send you a packet for you to fill out and return that explains your options. Of course you could just up and resign but that'll leave a gap in time in getting your money so best to start the process earlier. No worries about FedEx retribution for you leaving or some such, it's a pretty well thought out process that they handle all the time.

lols, we got one old timer, working from company to company, as the following company buys out the old one, so his got 3 pensions on hand, and working on his 4th... but also gets a payout from the last one as well...
