Contract raises vs. state minimum wage

I rent a smallish place with a woman I knew from college. The place is owned by a church and they've raise our rent from $650 (plus a garage) in 2005 when my mother and I moved in to $800 after she died last year (minus the garage.) Don't have to pay water either. Just rent, internet, power, and porn. I live a low expense life, so I don't stress over pinching pennies that hard.

Not to mention that the light rail is a 5 minute walk from here. I'll leave at 15:30 and step off at the guard shack at 16:45

The guy is posting wrong information. The minimum you get paid nationwide as a preloader is 11$ an hour.
Also oregon has different minimum wages depending on where you live in the state. Ie portland.

Many hubs are getting away with claiming that preloading is no longer a skilled position, and are no longer paying preloaders as such.

You should add at least $200/month for the loss of the garage.

Based on the loads that many of you say that you have to deal with they may very well be right.

I'm not a driver, but good point. They're claiming that skilled positions "involve knowledge units" and that since the route number or name and the shelf number are indicated, it's not skilled anymore.

The only reason we still have the extra $1 is because they couldn't hire people to wake up at 2am for $10.20/hr.

wide load

Starting wage is a waste of time.
Your job has been dumbed down also.

Are you willing to forfeit an equal percentage of your pay?

I know what you're going to say so......GO!
He will say that he is willing to forfeit money BUT he is on the cusp of retiring. So you'll never really get the truth from him .

I believe we have preloaders making 9.50 an hour. I heard one guy talking to his friend how they couldn't even pay ten an hour for this work. Starting pay for Oregon non metro is 9.75 tho. I think preloader starts at 10 and freight at 11.50 now. It really should be the other way around for how much more work 3-9am does than 4-10pm.

Where I live there should be illegals out front ready to work. Seven people down in preload today. You get what you pay for. Give them a little more and you won't have to pay drivers more to come in and do it on overtime pay. Three drivers today. Ridiculous.
