Nick you know what some of the contractors do here? They buy 2 or 3 prepaid phones to hire on drivers. They use different numbers as references as just alter their voice a little bit. Not only are they the references, but some contractors even act as former employers to verify the ground drivers "driving history" on whatever weight the vehicle is. You'd be amazed how much fraud there is. Then again, you probably see more than I do. I work in a big city but not NYC and the hiring is like you describe. No one but losers wants to work for ground. you know whats sad? i worked in a mall as a security guard and made more than i do here. whats even sadder is that i almost made as much as a security guard as i did at express. fedex blows. i hope it fails.
