UPS is slowly pricing itself out of the package business. logistics, robotics, and real estate , is going to be the future of UPS.

Amazon's delivery service, A1 its called, has full vans around here everyday. They only deliver little stuff, all the Amazon packages on my truck are 30lbs or more or Amazon Pantry. During peak they were letting people roll up to the distribution center and sign up to deliver out of their personal vehicle. Saw one guy with four packages on the windshield while he was rolling down the street looking for addresses lol.
Sounds legit. Lmfao!

UPS has wanted to transition to more of a logistics and technology company for several years. Forgetting that small package is what used to define what UPS meant. Some at the top would probably like to dump package delivery if it was possible because there is a smaller return on investment there.

It already is pretty much
Let's not forget that UPS makes a killin off of small package.

FedEx Ground's transit times are often better than ours. So that isn't a good argument. And even if you factor in the final delivery portion of it, they will be doing it cheaper than if they gave it to us or FedEx.

Ideally don't see how fed ex makes money with 4 different drivers going to the same business or home. On the same day within hours. They must be doing some funny math. There is no way to make a profit. Transit time they should be better. They have 5 trailers to our 30.
