Some of my favorite phrases i like to blurt (yell) out in the pre-load when i'm getting vomited on are.
This is my effin show.
All day baby. All effin day.
Lets get loose. Lets get naked.
My effin penn.
My b*lls, your jaw.
Or my tribute to Rick Flair. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! We try to have a good time. Talking smack. Putting each other down. Ripping the sups and the operation. It's all in good fun. I'm expecting this post to get dumped. I wish myself luck.

Exactly. Not all loads are the same. Some of our Inbound trailers have WAY heavier packages in it than others.

As far as my hub goes, I could say just about anything to management as long as it was in a friendly way. I mean, if you were really meaning it rude, as opposed to it coming off as light hearted, I could see him having a right getting upset.

No doubt, some are full of amazon packages. Some are full of smalls. And theres the all god fearing ereg feeders.

As for my soups, I love giving them hell. Friendship between the two should be viod. They ones that seem to like you seem to always turn to you when needed. Well, the ones that hate you always do the same as well. I guessed your screwed if you do and dont.

Nothing happened. I came to work and it was like the incident never happened.

We had a feeder driver terminated for swearing at our safety sup when she asked him to move his tractor. It was reduced to a 3 day suspension. We had a package car driver who was nearly suspended for expressing his opinion of the safety program with the use of profanity in front of the safety sup.

Your sup could have used this as a way to establish credibility. I could see if it was just the first friend* off but you paused, looked him in the eye and told him again to friend* off. You should have been terminated on the spot. Letting this go was the worst thing the sup could have done.

I have to agree. Consider yourself lucky. I swear all the time and make sarcastic remarks peppered with those special words especially when i'm getting bombed. Just move on and let time pass before you pipe up again. Never tell a sup friend off. You'll be working at taco bell.

That sup is smart. He understands that I'm the straw that stirs the drink in the unload. He was walking on eggshells all last night.

I think he thought it over and realized he was acting egregiously, which lead to my 2nd reaction.

So you must not understand how tight our union is? Atleast my local.

So let me get this straight,,YOU Think you are the "straw " ?? UPS has been around for 100 yrs turning a profit before "The Staw" came along !! This company will eat you up fast, spit you out in a second and bring in the next bus load of replacements !! No one at this company is irreplaceable !! remember that !!!

Supervisors employ multiple avenues to report occurrences, even if the information isn't initially shared with the employee. Your supervisor may very well have made some type of notation of the incident in your file. If you ever tick him, or any other employee off, in the future, it could very well be brought up and factored into disciplinary consideration. These are the types of things that blindside employees at panel.

in my building you'd have been taken to the center manager's office, been fired on the spot, and then escorted out by security, and the Local wouldn't have backed you up at all

cursing out a supe, or threatening anyone, whether they deserve it or not, is something that doesn't just buff out

But, no, not all trailers are the same. I went from pulling all the overweights out of one trailer to being moved to a down time trailer which I was supposed to go balls out so management could hit their numbers. Guess who's called upon to do the down time every night? You guessed it.

you're not getting paid by the hour to unload a trailer or make sure the other guy is working as much as you or question whether your work helps the company

you're being paid by the hour to follow instructions

Zag, don't know what part of the country your in or how big your local or building is, but in Los Angeles where there's a ton of management with even 20 times as many employees. You touch, or swear TWICE! at a sup with intent or malice, you get fired. We know the rules. No stealing, fighting, touching or cussing at a sup or management personell. I'm in probably in one of the biggest, strongest locals in the country, but i have a feeling if this was an issue with an employee here and the sup reported it, sayonara. There's to many employees and the local is not going to fight a battle it can't win, especially if that employee already has a history of being a cancer and has a paper trail. There's to much of a divide between hourly and management in this big city. There's a respectful working relationship. There's is a line that does not get crossed though.

Nice strawman.

In my unload of about 10 or so guys I consistently put out the most volume, in turn, making supervisors numbers look good. I think you need to do a little research about the meaning of the phrase, "the straw that stirs the drink".

They can't write you up and use it in case of future situations if they didn't discuss it with you and have you sign, or 'RTS'.

Atleast in my local.
