@Backlasher, I understand the importance of leaving packages where they cannot be seen from the street. However, regarding that video, it feels like that was not a casual drive-by. It was very likely that the thief knew what house the package was being delivered do (by seeing the package car there). And even if it was released to the rear door, it would have easily been stolen by that person.
This is my message to UPS customers: have some place outside of your door where
can be hidden behind.
I have been to houses that have enclosed porches with doors. And they locked the door. Seriously? You ordered something - you have a tracking number - you know the day it will be delivered. Be helpful, unlock the effing porch door. If you order big sht, be home when it arrives, or leave a note advising the driver where to leave it. You are only one stop out of many.
