The problem is someone can still be sharp when elected but when they get that old could suddenly decline at anytime. There are several politicians who hardly know where they are day to day but we are supposed to trust to make rational decisions.

I would be more generous. If you are elected while still in your 60's you can finish out your term but nobody should run for election after 70. Especially Senators with 6 year terms.

The Supreme Court is not congress and the appointments are lifetime unless they decide to retire. The SCOTUS is different than congress, Ricky!!
