Various mostly ineffective policies. Families have been treated with catch and release because federal courts decided it was cruel to imprison children for more than 20 days and no previous administration was willing to separate families in order to keep the parents past that 20 day limit. I haven’t heard a good solution from either side. If people are so afraid of their home country they are willing to risk certain rape and spend all of their money for a chance to live here, what is the humane answer?

I'm not a huge fan of Gary, but he was the best option. I really do think open borders is the best solution. Trade with all, alliance with none, should be our motto.

The asterisk on that principle is that we need to eliminate the welfare state. Without entitlements, immigration would be a huge plus to our country.

There is only the right way to become a US citizen. LEGALLY like all of our grandparents did. It's funny how so many of these illegals had plently of time to register to become citizens but hid out in the US. Deport them now and DO NOT allow them to get legal status ever. The best thing to do now is to CLOSE the borders to anyone new requesting asylum and let's catch up the ones waiting in line legally. NO emergency allowances - just we are closed for NEW processing. Go elsewhere. Then once we get caught up - pick an amount allowed to APPLY to be processed. We need to take care of our own first. The amount should be REASONABLE - say 5,000 only until we get the new - corrected system in place.

And how pray tell will we feed, clothe, and house all of them? Y'all have pushed the idea that automation is going to eliminate 30% of all jobs within 10 years. How are millions of people with limited English and education go in to survive? Will you be willing to shoulder a much higher tax burden to care for them?
