It's not a double standard. It's simply believing or not believing Trump when he says the documents the FBI seized from Mar-a-Lago had already been declassified by him during his time in office.
His director of national intelligence says he did. its more than believing trump.

but i understand that you want to hold onto this fantasy because otherwise you would have to admit the dishonesty of your party.

Might I suggest that a DNI might not be aware when a President steals classified documents for use and possible trasmission at his private residence after he leaves office?

because the president of the united states says so as the final authority on declassification.

Trump isn't the President. That ended 19 months ago.

trump as the president declassifed those documents. there is no higher approval that trump needs to seek. all he has to do is say he's declassifying them and its done.

you keep arguing like there is a process of approval he needs to seek. there is none . he is it.

you claim you understand this but its clear you dont.

Not sure why you believe nuclear documents are out of the picture at this point.
not on the list. you did say you were waiting for the warrant and list.

I said I'm not sure why he believes nuclear documents are out of the picture.

"The list includes references to one set of documents marked as “Various classified/TS/SCI documents,” an abbreviation that refers to top-secret/sensitive compartmented information. It also says agents collected four sets of top secret documents, three sets of secret documents".

you keep arguing like there is a process of approval he needs to seek. there is none . he is it.

Not sure what you're referring to. A former President doesn't have an approval process for declassifying classified documents because he's not the President.

are you really this dense.

Trump is the ultimate authority . if he says it was declassified as president then there is no one with more classification authority to dispute him.

You are describing the Pope, not the POTUS.

He can declassify anything, and quickly. There will be a record.

Here's a depiction of Trump declassifying the boxes of documents:

does not matter if you believe him . If Trump says he did as the hightest authority on classification then he did. its that simple.

Trump saying he'd declassified all of the seized documents while still President is the absolute truth only if you believe he would never lie or you have an interest in saying he would never lie.

does not matter whether you or I believe him or not . Once he says he declassified them he did it.
if Hillary tried to make that claim the higher level of approver could dispute her claim.
in Trump case there is no one one higher.
you realize the president has that authority so he can do his job without getting caught up in beauocratic processes?
i thought you said you understood that.

I don't think you understand that Trump apparently hadn't chosen to declassify the documents the FBI seized from Mar-a-Lago. Now why might a President choose to not declassify Secret and Top Secret documents before taking them away to his private residence for post-Presidential use?

everything generated up to the day he left is declassified if he says so.

if he has anything classified in his possession post trump presidency then he has a problem.
