I'm in a beautiful town of 50,000 surrounded by low mountains. They've got great coffee houses here but I've discovered Shell stations. They have very comfortable sitting areas inside and out where I can sip coffee or Diet Coke while surfing on very good internet. For all you libs this town was where Che Guevera's wealthy family used to summer when he was a kid. In a few minutes headed over to my favorite carniceria(butcher shop) where I can get a couple kilos of quality steak(about 4.5 lbs) for a total of about $15 at the official rate but at the rate I get from Western Union about $7. Total! Yep, really suffering here.

Actually this town is about an hour or so from Villa General Belgrano. It was founded by Germans who scuttled their ship in WWII and were allowed to stay by the Argentine government. After the war quite a few escaping Nazis found their way there. It's a very beautiful town that's super popular for looking like it's right out of Germany and especially for the annual Oktoberfest it has.

Average Germans were forced into the military too. Escaping Nazi's were almost all officers who would have been held more responsible than average enlisted(exception being concentration camp guards).

I'm independent, not a leach. And yes because of serious diabetic neuropathy in my feet I don't work. But my $22k pension here is easily like having $80k-$90k in the States. Which is the point of being here, can pay off debts in the States and get some savings together. For some reason you think living overseas is some kind of horrific experience. I have great internet here and watch Dish satellite tv on my tablet. If I were to stay here permanently I could watch it on a large smart tv. I've got Kindle Unlimited that lets me choose from well over a million books for $9.99 a month. And Amazon Prime for movies. There's even a multiplex here playing current movies in English. But ultimately will take my savings and buy a piece of land in the U.S. Southwest and live on it. I love New Mexico and the Big Bend region of West Texas. But who knows. There's a lot of anger in the U.S. A lot of violence. People here are friendly, kind, gracious. And very helpful to those not fluent in Spanish. While you're dreaming up all the negatives that aren't so I'm here enjoying all the positives that are so.
