Our extra board road drivers are starting on the dock with the full time dock bid. We have a jockey that starts 2 hours later. Shouldn’t he be offered the extra work to come in and work the dock 2 hours early also? Some days they start him 2 hours early sometimes they don’t. But the extra board start at the same time everyday.

Are you a "red circle" term? Is the jockey is getting his 8 hours? Are there part-timers working?

Yes we are a red circled terminal. Yes he is getting his 8. And yes the part timers are working. But since no part timers are sent home isn’t it extra work?

Extra work.... has been defined as "unplanned or unscheduled".

Look at it, from that angle.

As long as the bids get their 40 the Company has the right to schedule as "they see fit". If qualified personnel are available they can use them before paying out overtime.

I would file contract says there are 2 boards line and cartage (p and d , dock jockey) . Line only does cartage work when it is to busy.
