If it belongs to Uber, they don’t have to provide incriminating data, do they?

I'm assuming if it's incriminating, Uber won't give that info up without a court order.

I am concerned though that going forward Uber will insist that every accident is “not at fault” for them and leave victims screwed with no way to fight the giant corporation.

Uber wants to go public in the next year or so and no question it's top executives will want the best IPO possible so that they can cash out under the best terms . Lingering doubts about the viability of it's model would not be helpful in that endeavor .
