However you decide to do it, get a note, and not a thing they can do. Dont use your vacation, use short term disability, if it is available. Unfortunately you have to be friendly on your job, you cant be in pain.

By all means get your operation done then schedule adequate time for recovery. Get FMLA forms sent to your physician if you worked for more than a year.

FMLA. Go upers.com and fill out the form. Have your dentist sign it, and email or fax it in. Had a center manager pull this $!&# on me when my son was little. He had several medical issues to deal with.

Dropped it on him, and had 12 weeks of taking off anytime I wanted it. Tried working with them, but they wouldn't. He wasn't happy, but I was.

STD for wisdom teeth?

The OP is a PTer who works on the inside. Schedule the surgery for a Friday and he should be good to go on that following Monday.

Call Ups HRSC at 1-855-877-4772. You will have to file for FMLA. They will send you the forms. Your doctor will have a section to fill out. Send it back to HRSC and they will approve it. Full timers get up to 60 days a year to use for anything related to the medical issue. Unpaid. Unless you have vacations days left. If your out for certain amount of time you might get disability

Are you serious?

We are talking about minor surgery with a minimal recovery period.

Have them yanked Friday morning and lay on the couch all weekend.

When my daughter had hers taken out the first thing she wanted was a chocolate shake.

I needed my bottoms out. Told them when it was going to happen and I was going to off for a couple days. They scheduled me off. Sick days. It may count against your attendence but who cares. Bring them the DR. note. Don't let them tell you when to schedule it. They will try to tell you when it's best for them. Schedule it when it's best for you.

Schedule when it is best for all involved, especially if they don't have to come out right away.

If you can get off for 6 months when you have a kid why not take a couple months off for a tooth? You have to just shake your head and roll your eyes at the younger generation. "P"

I went to the dentist in January and they recommended that I get my wisdom teeth taken out. However, I went to see a specialist in May. They said that when i was having trouble sleeping through the night because of the pain (which I am now) that it would be time to remove the teeth. My vacation is not for a month and a half and my teeth really hurt. So I asked my sup if I bring in an oral surgeon's note if my absence would not count against me. She said no they will count. Is this true and how can they expect you to come to work when you are taking pain medicine for your teeth? Is my boss the only boss at UPS that thinks that way?
Had to get mine done last minute, couldn't take the pain. It was Thursday, called off sick Thursday and Friday back to work Monday. Call off sick if you have to.

It would seem any medical procedure should not be an issue be it wisdom teeth or something more serious.
Time for recovery is different for each person.
If the Doc finds he has to go in and dig around to get it all out, could be more than just a weekend.
