still doesnt mean you or most people are free.

i guess we live in a dumbed down culture so we dont really ask teh question what is freedom?

Ive considered it before. The difference to me is, we are all free to make choices. Some have consequences, some have rewards. When we aren't free to make choices (within the realm of the law), we either change the law, or change our choices, or both.

What IS your idea of freedom?

its probably democratic participation in power and having justice. i dunno. im assuming its a continuous struggle because the forces who are against freedom are probably always striving towards that. i think being free means everyone is, because if a group of people arent free then in a sense you arent either.

Ok, that's fair. But then by your definition, who ISNT free to make those choices? Ive always said, even from a non-religious standpoint that, "God gives free will to all humans, if its good enough for God it's good enough for me". Which is why I avoided church growing up because of the constant lambasting about sin. If we lived in a theocracy, i might not be free to reject that similar to Afghanistan or contemporary Iran. Just as if we lived in a socialist dictatorship like under Hitler, I might not be allowed to express anti-nazi viewpoints.

America, as far as I can see, is the MOST liberal (non-political connotations) country to have ever existed in those regards. Ppl standing in cops faces calling them pigs and wishing death on them... do you think Hitlers SS would have allowed that?

theres a quote in the matrix sequel "if its not safe for me, its not safe for you". isnt that true?
