What holidays do package handlers have off? I know there are Saturday sorts sometimes but which ones are regularly given off? The 4th of July, for example is a Thursday.

You still get the day after Thanksgiving off? I thought that was gone.

So with this wording, why are we forced to work the day after Thanksgiving? Union steward told me yes we work, we get double time plus holiday pay and I could always just call in. Why would I need to call it when it clearly states we shall not be required to work.

This is why.

To throw a wrench into the above info, if anyone is a gateway airport hub employee, if a holiday falls on an otherwise regular work day, you’re paid that day at regular time. We have very few volunteers as a result of that

It was already "provided" in this agreement that you shall not be required to work the listed holidays. Why are there 2 sections that contradict each other?

It's a loop hole that the company used. I believe it was put in the contract for air drivers. This I may be wrong about but Section 4 in the central is why you can be required to work holidays, except labor day.
