My son works as a summer camp counselor at a local YMCA. Went to this sessions closing campfire last night. Warmed my heart to see a couple hundred kids without their faces buried into their cellphones.
His group was honored last night for the three years they put into leadership training to attain a counselor position. Campers gave them a 25 minute standing ovation. The pay sucks but the life experience in changing young lives for the better are priceless.

Yep. The only reason I know is because one of the campers came up to me after the ceremony and asked me if I knew how long they they had applauded and cheered. I guessed 15 minutes, but he showed me the timer on his watch that showed 25.
I don't think you realize what kind of an impact these counselors have on these young campers year after year. Lots of tears were shed last night by all.
