I mean no one is concerned about the truckers bringing groceries and medical supplies. or the workers stocking those shelves/ cashiers, etc. we've been pretending we aren't dependent on nature and she can't humble us when she is good and ready. not a single industry or person, whatever class or skin color isn't affected by this. It really shows how fragile everything we work so hard for and prioritize in this world really is. I find it marvelous that we value bags of rice and beans so quickly. We all know deep down inside that we don't need all this extra crap and it doesn't even make us actually happy most of the time. I feel for the millions impacted in all kinds of ways but the earth needed to breathe and she is gonna breathe dammit. We all cant breathe if she can't breathe. This is just the beginning. She might even be doing us a favor before more irreversible climate change consequences happen. But on another note, can't we just nuke these markets in Wuhan?

If someone in your building contracted the virus would you guys think management would let you know? I wouldn't doubt they'll put up a signup sheet for volunteers to keep working. The company won't do jack squat unless someone drops dead in a hub and that probably won't happen. Even if they knew something they wouldn't inform us until we finish our work and are about to punch out.

If the country goes on lockdown then all doors need to be kept opened to avoid contact and ladders, buttons etc should be wiped after every shift at least.

Thought I might thumb through this thread to get an idea of how UPS is thinking about the virus... I can see nobody seems to be taking it seriously.. I asked our shop steward her thoughts.. I suggested at least putting a blanket statement out within our facility emphasizing to not come to work if your sick... She said UPS would never even consider it.. I asked what she thought about at least requesting placing some hand sanitizer in and around our facility, but seems unless I or someone else is willing to do so out of our own pocket, there is no chance..

It would be nice if UPS would at least take some basic precautions, but guess that is asking to much.. I am unsure what is ahead in regards to my preload position, but if I had to guess, I think we are going to see some serious bumps in the road in the very near future.. One or two weeks tops..

I am at least starting to wear latex gloves under my regular work gloves, and am taking my own hand sanitizer to work. The closest that I know of in regards to our facility having been exposed to the virus so far is a driver who returned from a trip to Japan, and has become seriously ill and unable to be tested so far.

Ask your wife....she should be able to explain it to you.

I asked the CDC instead. They recommend soap and water over hand sanitizer, especially when your hands are visibly dirty or greasy. As a Feeder driver you may not remember this but our hands get dirty and greasy at this job.
