I'm in the Central and have always been told that seniority only comes into play on the preload when a preferred job is open for a day (call off) or if they're on vacation.

Since neither the loading or unload is a preferred job, they can put whomever they want in those areas.

It should be offered to the highest, and if no one wants it, then the lowest should be sent.

Local 639. I’ve been a loader for almost 2 years . The full time sup keeps making me work unload. Can I file a grievance? Shop Stewart said no, business agent said yes.

Call me crazy but I feel unloading is a little easier then loading. Maybe you’re better off just leaving it alone ?

Unload is a no brainer with no accountability.

Have to watch for those falling walls though. Especially when you are unloading with a new hire that’s high .

That's what they tell the new hires. Do it long enough and it's all the same though.

I started in the unload. Everytime I had to load all I could think was how much this sucked and why people would want to do this everyday. The jams alone would drive me crazy. I much preferred to get paid the same to zone out and get some cardio.
