By recognition I was including all that comes with it that would make it worthwhile. It's all a matter of perspective, though. Individuals are flawed, and any system individuals try to form will also have flaws. I prefer to fight to preserve and improve what so many others have sacrificed to build. If you think about what it takes to survive outside of a society, it helps you to realize just how amazing our society is.

You mentioned that you have too much going for you to risk getting into a serious relationship, but you also think that society needs to break down in order to start anew. What do you think that looks like? You think that all that you have is still going to be around? Do you think you would survive the collapse of society? It's certainly an interesting thought experiment, but I don't think I really want to find out.

You might say that society won't collapse in our lifetime, so it doesn't affect you. Assuming you don't have children, then you really don't have any skin in the game, and your motivation is entirely selfish. Not judging, and I accept that everyone has selfish motivations, some to a higher degree than others. This is what is really at heart of the problem. Feminism, among other mindsets, come from a place of resentment and envy, that everyone else has it better, and that "I" deserve more than what "I" have. The answer is not to wallow in our own resentment, but to change our perspective and realize how great we actually have it, and that's what makes it all worthwhile.

I respect your decision to withdraw from serious relationships, and I'm not trying to convince you to change anything you are doing. And the main issue I have with how @Mesomorph is conducting himself is the deception. I have a real problem with fraud, aside from that I say live and let live.

Have you ever seen Neon Genesis Evangelion? You kinda remind me of Shinji.

Arguably the main character from Neon Genesis Evangelion. There's a scene towards the end where he and a female character are the only people left on earth. She's been knocked out from battle, and he starts to strangle her, but she comes to, reaches up to touch his face and he doesn't go through with it.

I agree where there might seem like a paradox in my logic when you consider this fact. I do have too much to risk for a relationship, and I do believe society needs to breakdown for this system to be fixed, but believe me, I am by no means looking forward to or promoting any kind of societal collapse.

Something like that would be terrible, but it's going to happen regardless with the way the system is. Could happen in my lifetime, could be a few generations from now. I'm just saying the system is too far gone and I'm too much of a minority for it to ever get fixed, so in the meantime I am doing what needs done to last as long as I can and get the most out of it, rather than throw it all down on a guaranteed risk with nominal benefit.

I think I may understand the parallel you're trying to make, tell me if I'm wrong, in that rather than compete for limited resources or risk her killing him, he instead took the step that would ensure his own personal survival, even if it guaranteed the extinction of his race and the end of humanity.

It's been a long time since I've seen it, and after skimming some redit threads about it I realize my take may be wrong. There are likely many things the creator was trying to convey through that scene, your take is likely part of it.

My take is that they have pretty much been set up as the new Adam and Eve. Between how traumatized they have both been, how messed up they are, and how cruelly she has treated him, he doesn't have much hope for the future.

As such, he is acting as judge, jury and executioner for all of humanity. He kills Asuka, it's over. Despite what everyone sacrificed, despite how hard the two of them fought just to survive, he is going to end it. She shows him the slightest gesture of compassion, even tenderness, despite the fact that he is choking the life out of her, and he suddenly can't go through with it.

Would you say Asuka represents the societal system in your comparison?

I would say that is apt enough for the purposes of the comparison. Though maybe not necessarily within the context of the story. We could probably plumb the depths of that scene and those characters and that series forever. Maybe we should start a new thread?

I tire of this lifestyle I have chosen for myself. Dating two women with them both thinking I'm seeing them exclusively. It can be stressful. Hiding things that they have left in my apartment or car. Making explanations as to why the passenger seat in my car has been moved

My first girl I've been with for 4 years and is a good girl, has a business degree, and no kids. She looks respectable and acts it. We get a long great and she always has her hands all over my body. Let's me smoke weed and do what I want. Not much fun in the bed except for the basics.

My 2nd girl I've been with for 7 months has the goth/emo look skinny pale skin tatted up with black hair. She has 1 kid.we get a long great except for the mind games she loves to play. The absolute best I've had in the bed. I'm talking safe word bondage type stuff. Gagging on me, all holes open for business. It's great to show her off (pm for pics I have plenty)

What do I do BC? I know you're a bunch of idiots normally but I know you old farts got some wisdom. Should I drop girl number one and continue having a porno like sex life and enjoy my young age to look for marriage material later or drop girl number 2 and keep the good girl because she's future proof?
this song is probably better than the girls your seeing:

Good grief... I seriously doubt that any reasonable woman would be okay with any of this at this time in her life.

Time to figure yourself out. You're focusing on the wrong tool. It will cost you more than it makes your life better.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years. Where are you in 10, 20?

I like this guys lack of planning ahead. Why would you even think about marrying girl #1? 12 years down the road she finds out you cheated on her multiple times while you were dating. Knock knock, who’s there? Divorce papers and custody battles. Hope you like court rooms.
