Loss of job threat for calling in an injury

Has anyone had an on job injury and have there center mgr refuse to call it in? I did and called it in myself and was told that if i ever did that again he was going to fire me.He hung up on me before I could ask him why not fire me now.I think I have a good reason to file a grievance.What do you think.........

I think you have answered this on your own. No UPS can not refuse you call in an injury if you were hurt on UPS time. Next time get in writing from your center manager that your being refused to call in an injury and watch what will happen next.

Just remember to always keep your cool and let them fly off the handle. Always point out the obvious. They hate that. They love to schedule meetings in the am when you feel you are under pressure to get out to your route. Make sure you leave the room with your steward and discuss the issue alone with him/her at anytime during the meeting you feel you need to. They have to allow you time to do this. They hate that too. Also if you feel your air commitments will be tight, point that out during the meeting too, with your steward present.

Buy what I'm reading it sounds like you have a legit reason to file. File under all articles that were violated, also "any pertaining laws, and UPS policy". I handled an inncident similar to this. It went to panel and it was decided that both parties were at fault (he said she said). So, if you have any witnesses...get a written statement from them. good luck!

workplace injury, instance of non-compliance, or any situation presenting a
danger of injury."

I had an injury about 3 months ago, and they didnt refuse to call it in but gosh damn, I felt like I was going to have the friggen CIA investigate my ass.. They made it such a big deal. For a company that reminds their employees to "report an injury regardless of severity" at every PCM. And then when someone does report an injury every manager in the building comes after you. What a joke. I am now reporting every single little thing that happens to me. Just to piss them off.

Hold on, not so fast...no discipline has been formally issued here.Therefore, why file a grievance, and on what? He said, she said threats? An Hourly can call in an injury, no big deal. Sounds like a pissed off Mgr venting. If threats persist, have a civil talk w/ mgr and a steward. Make sure you have a legitimate claim on how your injury occurred. But don't file unless you've been serve discipline.

The business manager made a statement and if you reasonable believe it than discipline has been taken. He screwed up in more than one way.

I've seen it happen.

Paper trail. In these type of complaints, most people at local hearing will say so and so had problem with the management person . The companies response will be "did they filed a grievance?" and "well, it must not have been that bad", your are the only person that has problem with management member

Does this mean you filed or not?...I don't see an HR person stepping on the toes of a Center Mgr at all. If you did file over a threat via telephone conversation I doubt it would even be heard at the local panel level. The BA and the Center Mgr would dicuss it without you. Ultimately grievance would get denied because of lack of evidence and you'll have a big X on your back from that point on. Becareful of the advice you get from habitual grievance filers.

So what happened with the OJI? Are you off work or on TAW? And watch your back. You are going to have to cross your T's and dot your I's for quite awhile. The manager will be gone before you are.

I see the specialist next week,and the HR person did give him an ear full.This one actually does look out for some people.The griv is filed.The last doc was the Comp doc he thinks surgery.I also have all the state laws in print to shove in his face.I'll go down, but I won't go down alone... No TAW
