Michigan Senate votes to repeal right-to-work law
With Tuesday’s vote, Michigan is one step closer to becoming the first state to repeal a right-to-work law in decades.
Yow. So just to be clear, does a shop have to agree to be a closed shop, or after it's repealed, all union shops you must join?
Perfect. As far as UPS goes it would be a closed shop at whatever date this goes into effect. No more freeloading
My immediate thought (for us) is it will force non dues paying UPS employees to sign up and possibly be more active in voting for or against the upcoming contract. What difference does this make if there are no union jobs being created
It won't do anything because union enrollment is going down even if their forced to join, there are not many union jobs leftMy immediate thought (for us) is it will force non dues paying UPS employees to sign up and possibly be more active in voting for or against the upcoming contract.
Their doing it more for state unions vs public unionsMy immediate thought (for us) is it will force non dues paying UPS employees to sign up and possibly be more active in voting for or against the upcoming contract.
Do they get strike pay as they cross the picket line?
What are you going to do to them?
Friday dumb question day? What are you going to do to them?
Where is that stipulation in writing?Friday dumb question day?
If one of my responsibilities is to keep track of who’s manning the line and who’s not, they’ll be marked down as not, and won’t get paid nor receive their insurance benefits, what’s so complicated Wally?
Talk to your local, that’s already been decided anyone crosses during a strike they do not receive their insurance benefits from teamcare. Every strike line will have captains and there will be a schedule.Where is that stipulation in writing?
I was wondering about the insurance part. No punch equals no insurance...but striking doesn't count? How does that work if UPS pays the contribution to TeamCare not union?Friday dumb question day?

Teamcare has agreed to cover all striking employees. Should the need arise, and remember there will be no punches and no contributions while on strike from UPS because there won’t be any contract in place.I was wondering about the insurance part. A court challenge for sure.View attachment 421424
This is the teamster constitution. There might be other local qualifications as well as some locals have their own strike find also.
