I've said it to guys I work with for years, if you guys are counting on your pension to survive you're foolish.Us No voters wanted the pension issues addressed. But Hoffa declared an impasse. (Yes I said it many times) buthim.

I'm going bet that the handful of guys who have planned on retirement this year from my building some may be rethinking that plan.
I thought you were talking about your plan. I think any retiree in troubled funds will be getting a letter similar to that before too long.
That's what life insurance is for among other things.
I have things in place.maybe not perfect... Doing The best I can. Last year of college.. Now I will try to fine tune the other things.

Depressing? Absolutely. What concerns me more is the road that we seem to be heading down. FedEx is getting to be a very formidable adversary and while 15 to 20 years ago we kicked their ass in service.....well I'll just leave it at that.
That's what I've tried to do over the last 15 years or so. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.
I'm getting enough in my IRA to last her a good while, if something should happen to me. Hoping not to have to touch if for a very long time.
And DONT forget about health care. We seen what this contract did to the retirees
