Once the company gets their foot in the door
It's true enough that 22.4 will not be gone but to replace the RPCD just won't fly now that we've seen how it's being used. It wouldn't have passed last time without the voting rule that was in place. It's gone now and no way it will be expanded.

What are you willing to give up? 2 day weekend? 8 hour request? 9.5 hour days? A weeks vacation?

The only thing I want to add for any 22.4's is to ask for advice from drivers who have worked here longer. Don't be afraid to ask a 10-30 year guy for advice or questions about the job. I usually see them going to supervisors first which I think is a mistake. I've learned way more from other drivers than supervisors. I understand that you're going to associate with those that most understand your situation. i.e. 22.4's with 22.4's, 40 year guys with other 40 year guys, route drivers with those in their loops, etc. but don't be afraid to ask or even "work friend" other drivers. Also it is important (to me anyway) for RPCD's to understand what the job of a 22.4 entails and their contract info, but also to listen to what they have to say about how they're treated. Too many stories about 6 day weeks, working until 10 on Saturdays because of all the call-ins, doing all the crappy routes, hanging around with nothing to do in the morning then being sent home (but not understanding how to respond in that situation) etc.
At my center, the 22.4s get treated like royalty. They get all the good split routes and most of them are in by 6:30. All our supervisors have s&& t for brains and can’t figure out why we have so much over allowed and 9.5 grievances

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

Most are runners.

Yes but they still get less stops then bud route drivers. On Friday, they cut stops off of a 22.4 to give to me. I ended up with more stops then the all residential route in the loop. They also beat me in by 2 and a half hours
That’s ridiculous. They’re here to be used and abused.
